Pork and Veggies Stir Fry

Pork and Veggies Stir Fry

The Real Stir Fry Recipe

Stir fry is a quick and easy Chinese dish. Many people can stir fry without any recipes because stir fry sounds like just throwing every in the pan. But that is WRONG… Yes, stir fry is quick and easy to cook but it’s not frying everything together all at once. Many people mistake that and their Stir Fry ended up being very watery or overcooked. That is because they cook in the wrong order. I recommend cooking the protein and vegetables separately because veggies produce water when you cook them in the pan and that will make your dish very watery. Here is my full recipe to cook a perfect Pork and Veggies Stir Fry.

Ingredients

Boneless pork chop

8 ounces

Zucchini

1 cup
Mushroom1 cup
Cabbage1 to 2 cups
Garlic2 cloves
Ginger2 slices
Olive Oil
Rice wine1 tablespoon
Onion Powder1 tablespoon
Sugar1 teaspoon
salt and red pepper

Prep

  • Slice the pork into small and thin pieces, if you want to save time, there are pork slices or cubes you can buy from the supermarket.
  • Marinate the pork with 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of rice wine.
  • Cut zucchini, mushrooms, and cabbages, and put them in a bowl
  • chop the garlic and ginger for later use

Now we have finished prepping, the next step is to pan sear the pork, then pan-fry the veggies.

Cooking

  1. Heat up the pan on high, add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan
sear the pork

2. Add chopped garlic and ginger to the pan then throw in the pork

Tips

Some tips for a good Stir Fry:

When creating your own Stir Fry, remember to follow the steps in order.

  • heat up the pan before adding oil
  • Use a little sugar when marinating pork
  • cook protein and vegetables separately first, then stir fry them together at the end

In this recipe, you could change zucchini to broccoli if you like. If you are vegetarian you could use tofu instead of pork.

Make Your Perfect Brunch – Stir-Fried Beef Noodles and Pineapple Mimosa

by Chef Pangcake

I have missed chow fun for so long since I moved to Boston… I was thinking what to eat in the morning for Sunday brunch. Instead of just regular pancakes, French toasts, and coffee, I was like why not have a Cantonese chow fun this time? So we made this amazing beef chow fun plus delicious pineapple mimosa and French toasts! (Very random right? I mean a fusion of taste).

Let’s see what we need before we cook:

Ingredients:

Rice noodles

Thin beef slices

Scallion (chopped)

Chinese Chives (chopped)

Onion (chopped in sciences)

Bean sprouts (optional, I didn’t use)

Vegetable oil

Sesame oil

Salt

Soy sauce and dark soy sauce

Cooking wine (I couldn’t buy the right Asian cooking wine but I used rum and Vodka, and it turned out to be very yummy)

Flour 1 teaspoon

One egg white

Pre-cooking…

  • Put the rice noodles in warm water and sit for 6-8 hours. I put them in water the night before and drain the water when I get up.
  • Marinate the beef: put the beef in a bowl and mix with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of rum/vodka, 1 egg white, 1 tablespoon of flour and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil

Step 1- cook the noodles

Boil the rice noodles just for 2 mins until it’s dente (don’t cook it too soft), and cool it down with cold water. Drain the water and put aside for later use.

Step 2 – Cook the beef

  • Put in about two tablespoons of vegetable
  • Stir fry the onion and beef until about medium and put them aside for later use

Step 3- stir fry noodles with everything

  • Put in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Stir fry the bean sprouts (skip it if you don’t have bean sprouts)
  • Put in the noodles and stir fry with onion and beef
  • Mix them all with the scallion and Chinese chives
  • Put in two tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce, fry with all the stuff
  • Season with salt to adjust the taste

This is how we cook a traditional dish of Beef Chow Fun!!

With this pineapple mimosa? That’s how to have a perfect brunch!
