Hi, I am Mia!

This blog shares my fun cooking experience and easy-to-cook recipes with everyone. I hope you will feel inspired to cook more at home after reading my blog posts and recipes. You probably want to ask why “chefpangcake”? I came up with this name because my last name is Pang and my favorite breakfast food is pancakes.

I started sharing my recipes in 2018, but I have had my career as a “self-employed chef” aka cooking for myself for over ten years.
The reason why I started cooking for myself and my family was that my parents didn’t have time to cook at home. I was so tired of dining out every single meal and eating unhealthy food that I decided to cook by myself with random ingredients available in the fridge.

In 2016, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts from Guangzhou, China to pursue my Master’s degree. Like many international students, I was soon getting homesick and especially missing the food in Asia. Even though there are many options for Chinese food, even Cantonese food in the Boston area, and I like many of them, there is still something missing – the taste of home. Therefore, I started cooking more at home and decided to open an Instagram account to record the dishes I made. Sharing photos of the home cuisine with my family and friends somehow made me feel closer to home. Soon after, I realized many of my friends like to know more about the food I made and more importantly the culture behind it. In order to have more space to share my recipes, food photos, and cultural information, I started my first blog ever – Chefpangcake.
